Why?

Why do we do what we do?

What do we do?  Literally, we set some settings on our cameras and then click the shutter to capture light in the world a certain way.  Sure, we could tell you HOW we do what we do... "how" we market, how we shoot, how we edit.  We could tell you what equipment we prefer, use, and how much it all costs-- "how" we get the shots that we do.  We get these questions all the time.  Any one can have the same "how" and "what" as us... but what makes us, Ashley and David of Story Photographers, different from everyone else?  It's WHY we do it.

We choose to be photographers because we are curious about people.  We are fascinated by people and truly want to learn about them.  Every person has a unique story they carry around in the world.  Everyone has experienced love and excitement and growth and sadness.  To be true to ourselves we have to create art that expresses who you truly are.  We realize that the images we capture today are the ones that will tell people tomorrow what you and your world was like.  These images will show the next generations who you loved, what you experienced in your time here on earth.  We choose to be photographers so that our (everyone's) love and experiences can be expressed without words for as long as that image lasts.  We strive to interactively shoot in a way that allows you to trust us enough to share who you truly are.  As relationships typically work, this is not one sided- while we are capturing your story you are allowing us to tell it.  It's a mutual exchange of trust- you trust us to capture you in a way that is authentic when we show you that your story is important to us.

Our driving motivation as photographers is to see and document you expressing love to those around you, and yourself, in whatever setting your shoot might be in.  This is really what you want to see captured, right?
