Personal Story: Wedding Shows
(please excuse the iPhone image - we were bad photographers & didn't get a pro picture of ourselves at our booth)
We've not kept it a secret - wedding shows are not our thing. Through a series of events we decided to participate in The Carolina Inn wedding show one more time. We know our typical couple is not at a wedding show to find their vendors. We also know that the way we choose to approach our booth for a wedding show is not typical. And the way we choose to work as photographers cannot easily be conveyed in 10 seconds as someone stops by your booth before speaking to ten to fifteen other photographers. So we had a goal in mind of how many weddings we would like to book from the show but kept an open mind. What matters is that there were some couples there that understood us, they got what we are about. By no means were they they majority, but we know we aren't for everyone. At one point in the show, a girl rushed over to our booth while we were talking to a few other people and said "I saw you from across the room and I just had to get your information!!" We just booked this couple and here is what the bride-to-be had to say about finding us:"I met Story Photographers at the Carolina Inn Bridal Show. This was my first bridal show, and I had been surrounded by booth after booth of pushy venders trying to get their business card in everyone's hand. By the time I got to the last showroom I was exhausted and every station really looked the same. Story's booth was so different I was immediately drawn to it. The two photographers were friendly but stood quietly and contently by their booth and let their work speak for itself. I asked for their card, circled it and knew they were for me! I need someone with quiet confidence and true artistry to do my wedding and they are it!"
