Love Story: Erin & Alder’s 10th Anniversary

There are times that I really do want to clone myself so I can be in more than one place at a time… and one of those times was when I was already booked on the date that these two got married ten years ago. I WAS SO SAD. But here we are, ten years later and I am getting to document this chapter of their love. A love that has grown, evolved and become more comfortable over time. I am so proud of these two and the way they love others, each other and themselves. What a beautiful example.

Erin had some sweet words to share about their tenth wedding anniversary: “I've known Ashley for many years and have always recommended Story Photographers for friends' exciting life happenings. Having missed out on hiring her for my own big gay wedding ten years ago, I was looking forward to the day when we'd get to have our own Story Photographers moment. Being queer, being married, and be hell-bent on creating the life we want to live, this photo shoot was powerful for us. 10 years ago, folks in NC voted that legal marriage was defined by one cisgender man and one cisgender woman. We knew that was bogus and we got married anyway. Thank goodness for being ballsy and for not letting backward thinking keep us from our happiness.

Flash forward 10 years, we are celebrating so many incredible transformations. ‘Coming out’, as they say, is a process, and one that I hope everyone has some experience of in their lives. For me, getting to document our deep healing, the hard-won love we have for ourselves and one another, and the gift that it is to be alive shows up in every single photo Ashley took”
