Commercial Story: Erin’s Story Headshots

Erin and I have known each other a LONG time ya’ll. We tend to flow in and out of each other’s lives in lots of different ways. During a recent crossing of paths, Erin shared with me that after years of being a public school teacher, she was feeling the pull to start her own school. I loved feeling the energy and excitement that poured out of her as she laid her vision for me (which included these anniversary photos during this headshot as well). We knew we would do a headshot session to promote the school, as well as a session with students out in the world. You might remember that one of the times I was connected back up with Erin was at this wedding she officiated on this BEAUTIFUL land… well we got to return to this space to do her headshots and it was such a joy!  This was another story shoot of sorts where we got to collaborate about what Erin wanted to communicate about herself through her headshots. She wanted them to feel as natural, and the least performative possible. By nature, a headshot is performative, however we talked about the ways we could make them as natural as possible, and I am thrilled with how they turned out. Erin agreed as well. Check out Erin’s experience below in her own words.

“Ashley worked with me months ahead of time to get a clear vision of what I wanted and then literally *magic-ed* it into being. I hope you all have the experience of truly seeing yourself as you are and loving yourself fully. My new work is all about walking through the world as the sacred beings that we are, in our full power, alive and juicy and risk-taking. If being queer has taught me anything, it's that this one precious life is worth every ounce of our full authenticity. Working with Ashley simply brought every one of those threads of sacredness and beauty and humanity into the light. What a priceless gift.”
