Romance your friends. Platonic romance is a thing. All that sappy language about loving someone more each day, I feel that with my friends. I adore them. I want to spend as much time with them as possible. I fantasize about us growing old together on a commune somewhere, where we all take care of each other. I love their families, I love giving them gifts, I love surprising them. My friendships are epic. And they deserve to be celebrated.

A lovely little engagement shoot!

There are times that I really do want to clone myself so I can be in more than one place at a time… and one of those times was when I was already booked on the date that these two got married ten years ago. I WAS SO SAD. But here we are, ten years later and I am getting to document this chapter of their love. A love that has grown, evolved and become more comfortable over time. I am so proud of these two and the way they love others, each other and themselves. What a beautiful example.

Aashna reached out to let me know that she was interested in doing an engagement shoot around Raleigh to celebrate her engagement to Sanket before they headed to India for the wedding festivities…

We feel so honored when y’all refer your friends and family to us; shout-out to Lindsey Boggs (whose family is a regular around here) for this referral! This engagement shoot with Mary Scott and Matthew was such a sweet shoot.

The couple took Ashley to this really cool little place by the water, behind their neighborhood for this shoot. For the shoot, Mary Scott really wanted to capture their special bond with their dog Charlie. They had such a good time walking around, celebrating the two of them and their sweet dog.

Y’all, we are SO EXCITED to share this one. It involves a first for Ashley… Being surprised with photographing a surprise proposal! Eeee! 

Casie Hall is a regular around here. Ashley knows her from when she found Story Photographers and reached out to us for her first wedding, years back. Ashley had a quick connection with Casie and they became friends after that. Over the years, Ashley has shot her family and, over this time, she has become really good friends with Casie! Y’all may recognize her as the owner of Three Oaks (who we love around here). With Ashley and Casie both being small business owners, they’ve of course done a lot of meeting, talking, and growing together. It has been really cool for Ashley to watch their relationship grow from client, to friend, to good friend over the years! So, this surprise shoot with her was especially exciting for Ashley.
