Wedding Story: Mary Catherine and Zach

Y’ALL … there is just so much sweetness in these images of this backyard wedding so brace yourself for all the feels!

I first met Mary Catherine when shooting headshots for Three Oaks Behavioral Health & Wellness, so I was thrilled when she reached out about her and Zach's wedding.

These two lovebirds got married on Halloween, and you can tell they really leaned into the season of Thanksgiving and gratitude with each detail of their big day. Their reception was a Thanksgiving meal where everyone brought their usual dish as a contribution. Mary Catherine got ready in the house she grew up in with her mom and sister by her side. Then their ceremony took place at Zach's grandparents house in their sunroom. Mary Catherine also found some beautiful ways throughout the day to honor her father who passed away 5 years ago.

Can’t you just see how much these two adore each other in every picture?? When I asked them to share with us a favorite moment from their love story when we first started talking about their wedding day plans, these lovies wrote:

“Our favorite moment is right now. We can just sit here and enjoy each other's presence. Sitting in our apartment on a weeknight being honest about what we are thinking and how our days and lives are going. We have the perfect balance of similar and varied interests. Mundane tasks are fun when we get to do them together and that is the most romantic thing of all."

After the ceremony and reception, we had so much fun around downtown Raleigh visiting some of their favorite places. Our first stop was TOP. SECRET. We took some photos outside of Broughton High School, where these two met in 2008. They gifted these images to their moms as a surprise for Christmas. The number one requested thing for couples photos by Mary Catherine was market lights! I LOVE that!! I am a fan of those too. You can just see how much fun Mary Catherine was having there - twirling under the lights at city market in downtown Raleigh. This day was just pure, absolute sweetness!!

The day after the wedding, Mary Catherine sent me the sweetest “thank you” text:

"Thank you again, so so so much, for everything on our wedding day. You helped us to stay grounded in the most amazing moments, and I loved how present everyone was."

When she saw all the images for the first time, she immediately reached out to say, "THESE PICTURES ARE EVERYTHING!!!! My phone is almost dead and my plans for the day are taking a rain check because all I can do is look at these photos. You captured us so perfectly!!! I am so in love with them, thank you SO MUCH!!!!"
