Wedding Story: LGBTQ+ Weddings and Love
For all the LGBTQ+ couples and families I have shared on the blog over the years, there have always been those that I have not been able to share. Couples and families that fear losing their jobs, that are rejected by their parents or extended families, that have already endured enough pain because of who they happen to love and don't want to risk even more pain. This post is for those families. We love you. We support you. We affirm you. We are cheering you on. I recently photographed the wedding of a beautiful couple who have chosen to keep their images and story private because of the painful judgment they may face if they share them. One of the brides was kind enough to share some words about her experience with me.
"My new bride and I were thrilled to finally become a family in January of this year. We were overjoyed when Ashley gave us our wedding pictures back. The excitement was shadowed by a little sadness. We long to share them on social media but we still fear being judged and “called out in Christian love.” Marriage equality has come a long way, but judgment and fear still exists. Thank you Story Photographers for capturing our wedding day. We love the images and will cherish them for many years to come!"
It has been a true joy to get to know this couple well. You would love them and their love. You would cheer them on, with their blended families and their best friendship turned deep love and affection.I will forever cherish the honor of being able to witness and document their story and so many of the LGBTQ+ stories I do not get to share here on the blog.
