Social Story: AMF Soiree
My Dad died September 2008... I was a couple of years out of college, my younger sister was still in college. Our friends did a wonderful job supporting us but I always wonder what else we could have known about experiencing a traumatic death and grieving in our 20's. The National Students of AMF are an amazing non-profit organization that serves college students who are going through loosing a loved one or have friends who are experiencing this. There are now 42 official chapters around the US that are student led, faculty advised and university recognized. There is so much to learn about grief and supporting others that are grieving. We were honored to cover AMF's Spring Soiree to raise money for this awesome organization. This year it was held in the fabulous Flanders Art Gallery with music provided by Frank of Joe Bunn DJ Company .
There were tons of amazing items up for silent and live auction to raise money. Everything from jewelry to art to a trip to the beach and New York!
It never hurts to have a local, lovely news celebrity to start off the evening...
David Fajgenbaum is a co-founder and executive director of the National Students of AMF-- this man is such an inspiring, joyful person!
Kelly Hudson came to share with everyone how important AMF was to her during college. She experienced the loss of a family member and friend while at school and after finding out about AMF online, started a chapter at her school.
The raffle had some amazing prizes... including this killer necklace that this lucky lady won...
And the live auction is always high energy and fun to witness!
You should really take a moment and read about the National Students of AMF and consider supporting this cause in some way.
