See Her Story: 4th Annual Fundraiser

SHSblogIt's that time of year! April is sexual assault awareness month, and for the past few years it has been when Story Photographers holds their annual See Her Story fundraising event. Have your picture taken by Story Photographers while having a night out of dessert, drinks, professional hair and makeup touch up... all while "shopping for good" at The Flourish Market. Not only do your purchaes there benefit vulnerable populations here in the United States and Around the world, The Flourish Market will also donate 10% of the sales that evening to this year's fundraiser recipient, Layers of Dignity.Layers of dignity is a new nonprofit that will provide clothing and support to sexual assault survivors in Raleigh and the surrounding areas. When someone goes into the Emergency Department or the Solace Center at InterAct after being sexually assaulted, their clothes are collected as evidence. While this is necessary, it also adds to the feeling of vulnerability and exposure to people who have just experience sexual assault. Layers of Dignity will create tote bags for women that will be handed out around the state, with comfortable new clothing to wear after the examination. The totes will also include information for emotional support after experiencing such a traumatic event.Your ticket into this event is by doing one of the following:*A monetary donation of atleast $30 to Layers of Dignity(If you are from out of town and want to send money, you can either make a check out to "Layers of Dignity" and mail it to them at Layers of Dignity 107 Edinburgh S Drive, Suite 201, Cary, NC 27511. Β OR you can venmo the nonprofit directly. For both you can put "See Her Story" in the memo.)* Bringing at least 5 items off the tote bag items list to the event. please bring new with tag items. Needed in all sizes for women & girls:JoggersLeggingsUnderwearSports brasBralettesTunicsVnecks/tshirts (long & short sleeve)Comfy dresses (to go with leggings)CardigansSweatersSanitary wipesFleece socksFlip flops* Purchasing items off their amazon list that ship directly to them & showing us the receipt at the door (Amazon list here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/ZIE6ADDIS2Z5 )See Her Story started out as this one night a year fundraiser, but is growing to become much more than that. The idea is that women's stories are important and worth telling. Through the fundraiser we encourage women to get in front of the camera, because you are worth being photographed by yourself. It's important for your family to have those images, to have a solid headshot for work, but mostly for you! We also want to take the time to support other women (and men) in their stories by supporting a nonprofit this evening. Our understanding of our own stories deepen when we hear the stories of those around us. We are also proud to partner with other women owned businesses who choose to donate their services and time to make this evening special (I will keep adding to this list as plans flesh out):Our fabulous host - The Flourish MarketHair and Makeup Artists - Kris Bright and Michelle Clark (and possibly more!)Dessert - The Cupcake Shoppe BAKERYPlease invite the ladies in your life to attend this event with you!For more info contact us at seeherstory@gmail.com
