Family Story: The Powers Family

Heather and Lawrence's friends gifted them a family shoot with me last spring to celebrate the adoption of their son, and it was SO fun to finally get to meet them and photograph their new family unit!They adopted Jackson from the foster care system. Heather says after the age of 5, the chances of a child being adopted into a forever home drops dramatically. They didn't originally think they would adopt a child older than 9 or 10, but she says sometimes things work out in a way you don't plan for and now their world is full of teenage energy and Jack's own unique, happy self.  You can see their local news channel interview about adopting Jackson here.It was an honor to be part of this special moment in this family's story.
