Personal Story: Spring

This is the third or fourth year in a row that spring has inspired me to pick up my camera and wander into our yard (you can see other years here and here).  I looked out the window into our back yard and saw the way the setting sun was lighting up these blooms on a tree.  Before I started shooting professionally I always chased sun sets to shoot at the best color time and ran to grab my camera (usually it was already weighing down my purse) as soon as I saw something cool to macro shoot in our yard.  I used to do this all the time, allowing light and colors and shapes in nature to inspire me.  I love photographing people and am so inspired by how they relate to each other… but I have realized that I need to follow my urge to pick up my camera and wander around in the yard.  It mellows me out… relaxes me and reminds me to pay attention to the small details in everything I shoot.
