Engagement Story: Sara Beth and Jake

Photos by Ashley

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how this shoot turned out, and you will, too! Sara Beth is a longtime friend and pastor who I deeply respect - so when they asked me capture these moments for them, I WAS THRILLED!!!

Sara Beth and Jake were excited to be back on the UNC campus for their engagement shoot since this is the place they first met. These lovebirds met at Carolina through their campus ministry like 13 years ago (Sara Beth had a HUGE crush). They were friends for a long time, but when they reconnected just over 6 years ago, clearly something sparked! You can see in their pictures how their long history of love for each other has created a strong bond between them. If you're an enneagram nerd like I am, they are a 9 and a 2, so we joked about how much they were taking care of each other in their shoot.

That book they are holding is THE SWEETEST THING! Jake proposed with this book while they were hiking on top of a mountain in Panthertown valley. It is filled with memories and mementos Jake has saved throughout their relationship. He also MADE the box the ring was in!

Sara Beth and Jake often say that they “go on adventures together” - and I loved being with them on the campus where their adventure began.

Here’s what these lovies had to say about their time with Ashely:

We were just really appreciative of how conversational it felt in terms of giving and receiving direction and prompts. We absolutely loved how authentic the pictures came out. The pictures look like us.

Jake added, “We could feel her energy, too. She was genuinely excited and affirming when pictures were good. And she laughed at my jokes!”

We just can’t get enough of this sweet couple and we are sure you can’t either! Be on the lookout for their wedding images at the end of the summer to see how their adventure continues to unfold!!
