Raleigh Story: NCMA Art Auction

Raleigh Story Project #5: Art of the Auction, NCMA

The NC Museum of Art has tons of events throughout the year that are awesome and the Art of the Auction seems to be at the core of that to me.  I forget how the museum runs on some government assistance but mainly from private donation.  The "Art of the Auction" event gives local artists the opportunity to donate their art work to the museum to raise money for the museum.  This in turn raises awareness for those artists and the work that they do.  There were many different mediums on display and SEVERAL pieces that I loved!

The majority of the pieces were on display during the silent auction portion of the evening...

Everyone was issued a "BidPal" to place their silent auction bids on, which basically looked like an ipod touch.  Very easy and efficient technology for this event!

Oh hey!  A custom bag designed by Holly Aiken for this event... love her work!

There were also several larger items on display for the live auction... some stunning work!

DJ SK did an awesome job keeping the mood just right... and he was loving the blinged out table!

And notice what had just popped on the screen: "Art inspires life".  True.

The tent set up for the live auction looked AMAZING.  Jennifer and her people did a wonderful job dreaming this up and making it happen!

The lovely Caterri Woodrum, the Chief Deputy Director and Chief Financial Officer of the NCMA...

The oh-so-awesome John Paul Womble MC'd the event!

Not only were those fabulous larger pieces of art up at the live auction but also some amazing trips and experiences.

A little playful begging never hurt anyone at a fundraising auction!

And to close the event out, Elvis sent everyone into the night with plenty of "thank you... thank you very much"s!

The NCMA puts on so many awesome events through out the year that I have decided and invited to tell their story again... so look out for more NCMA story posts!
