Personal Story: Our First Picture
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you.... THE very first picture David and I ever took together. This is it:
(this is a picture of a picture... back in my film days)
This image was taken in the fall of 2002. Sure, it's nothing special- just shot on cheap film at my family's house. This was SUCH a big deal for me. I don't know why I, or anyone else around me, did not realize that I was going to be a photographer at some point in my life. My high school and college days are very well documented- I was the girl that ALWAYS had my camera in my handbag or my backpack. It was so important to me to have all these little moments on paper (again, I shot film at the time) to go back to my whole life.I look back at this picture and think about how I was planning who would grab this shot for us, when we would have it taken, how to not make a big deal about it even though deep down it was a huge deal. I just had this feeling that this would be an important picture... I knew I wanted to be able to look back and be able to say "This is it! This what we looked like in the very beginning together! Look at our smiles!" We were so giddy with the excitement of getting to know this new, already important person that had recently entered our world. This is one of the things I love about photography: The idea that in a fraction of a second this hand held machine is able to render an image from one slice of your story. And then for the rest of your life you have this image to look back at that can trigger memories, smells, emotions, etc from that point in your life.
I love my husband.
I love our first picture together.
I love my job.
