Personal Story: 5 Years Married!
If you follow us on Twitter or Facebook, you know David and I just celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. We had some flight vouchers from a messed up business flight last fall so we used them to create the honeymoon we wanted to take 5 years ago but couldn't afford- a trip to the coast of Maine. We think being married five years (and going strong) is a big deal. There are several statistics against us... how young we were when we got married, the life events we have already weathered and had to weather in the first five years, etc. I am so proud of us for making it through these first five years. We believe it is important to celebrate these proud moments in life, no matter how big or small they might seem.
In Maine we took a lot of time to explore, eat, sleep and just be. We talked about how our first 5 years just sort of happened to us... for someone who likes to have a plan, like myself, those first 5 years were not a part of anything we planned. There was so much good that happened, including this business, and there were some incredibly tough and traumatic times. We fought it out. There was a lot of communicating... over communicating, processing, looking at our pasts, looking towards the future, recognizing the present moment.
These are some of my favorite self-taken pictures on our trip to Maine. You CAN take meaningful self-pics on your every day point&shoot camera. Yes, there were moments (one specific moment I will be sharing on one of the Maine blog posts to come) where, as photographers, we wanted some one there that could document us as we were right then, in the breath-taking settings that Maine's coast so easily provides. As long are you are paying attention to your light, your surroundings, then you can easily come out with images that are frame-worthy. We can't wait to share our trip with you in the coming blog posts...
