Family Story: The Knowles Family

As an extrovert, I (Ashley) typically leave story sessions with my cup full and overflowing... this was totally one of those days.  I got up and travelled while the sun was rising down twisty country roads, drinking in all the beauty around me.  I would probably never head down these roads on my own, but I love when shooting takes me to these places.  Susan contacted me to do a shoot with her Dad's side of the family on their farm in eastern NC.  I got to hear family stories, local tragedies, ghost stories... all while the family would drive me further into the fields and woods :)  We got to joke around about that!  It really is a gift to me when I step into a family's life like this for a few hours to learn about who they are and document them in their environment.

There are only two, 2 car ferries left in NC and this is one of them!  Susan used to take this one to get to her high school when she was still at home.  Their dog had to  make an appearance in all of the photos :)

Siblings.

Knowles Family, thank you so much for letting me into your world!  I loved getting to explore all your farm land with each of you and hearing all the good local stories.
