Family Story: The Asbill Family
Ooo this family was so fun to photograph! The Asbills joined me for my first ever Mother's Day Short Story sessions and I am so glad that they did! We had been talking about doing a family shoot together for a long time and they finally made it happen... and I love how these turned out! They shared some sweet words about their experience with me, that I get to share with you:" I have been meaning to do a photo shoot with Ashley since my son (who is now 3) was born. Things kept coming up, the timing wasn't right, and I just kept putting it off and feeling like a "bad mom" for not having professional photos of my second child! I saw Ashley's post about the Mother's Day mini shoots and decided to just sign up. I kept thinking about all that could go "wrong" leading up to the shoot - outfits could get dirty beforehand, somebody could be cranky and uncooperative, somebody could end up with scrapes that wouldn't be pretty in photos (very likely with preschoolers) etc, etc. But, I realized, that would accurately depict the life of our family right now! And that's what this is all about - capturing images of who we are, right now, in the life we live day to day. Not trying to get perfection, just trying to get a literal snapshot of what our life is like with two working parents and very active 5 and 3 year olds. My son started out the shoot in a bad mood, pouting and hiding from the camera. Ashley did a fabulous job of letting him work up to having his picture taken on his own time, and before I knew it, he was laughing, playing, and hamming it up big time! The experience itself was well worth the effort and time it took to get us there and ready! We had a blast with Ashley! She let us live into our own personalities as she worked, while also guiding us into what she knew would be great shots. And when I got the images in my inbox, I actually cried. Ashley masterfully captured my kiddos' distinct personalities, their silliness, and our family's unique blend of love for each other so beautifully. My only regret is that I waited so long to do it!"
