Commercial Story: Pullen Memorial Baptist Church Website

Pullen Memorial Baptist is a church that I have long respected. Baptist News Global just did a piece on this church and how it’s been 30 years since its February 1992 action to affirm and perform same-sex blessings. The ways this church has fought for social justice over the years is so admirable and their current staff is just phenomenal.

They were working on a website update and reached out to me to come take some photos of their beautiful stained glass and indoor labyrinth to use throughout the site design.

I always enjoy the collaborative process of working with a website designer to talk about what kind of spaces need to be filled by photos on a website, what kind of lighting and color will best match the branding on a site, etc. I think it's so important for nonprofits and businesses alike to represent well what their actual space looks like through images on their site, especially if they are going to have people show up to that space (rather than using stock photos). For a church I think it helps potential visitors feel that much more comfortable already knowing something visually about the physical space before they even show up.
