So I get this email from Hattie saying that she has just gotten engaged, they want to do their engagement shoot in NYC where they live… and there are only two days it can happen, one of which is next week. OMG! Thank goodness I could get myself up there to do this shoot! Hattie and Andrew are such amazing people. These two have lived all over the world… and they are not even 30 years old. They currently live in NYC, but Andrew gets to travel all over for his job, and Hattie has plans to be abroad soon as well. They have such a passion for exploring, learning, and being spontaneous. It is SO fun to be around them!
Andrew proposed to Hattie in Central Park… after several romantic excursions that weekend, Andrew was waiting for the right moment, that spontaneous nudging saying “this is it!”. Hattie was suspicious that the question was about to be popped, and kept getting faked out every where they went. By the time Andrew proposed, Hattie had already decided it wasn’t going to happen that day. Perfect timing.
One of the places Andrew really faked Hattie out was on the canoes at Central Park. Hattie said she kept looking away to give Andrew a chance to pull the ring out of his pocket, but he never did… at least, not yet.
You know when I saw a guy blowing 7-8 foot long bubbles I HAD to get in on that action!
Then Hattie and Andrew took me to The High Line. David and I had read about this park and I was SO excited to get to experience it. Basically the city has taken an old railway that was no longer in use and turned it into a long park filled with tons of plants, sitting areas, and amazing views. An awesome example of repurposing in the city!
Andrew and Hattie, thank you so much for choosing to fly me up to do your engagement session, out of all the people you could have flown in the world
I hope your world travels this year are amazing and that wedding planning in the midst of that goes well!

um excuse me but is that the rock in CP where charlotte and harry took their wedding photo? i love it. what a lovely new york shoot!
congratulations hattie!!! (and andrew)
These are PERFECT. I LOVE everything about them.
I just love the b&w photos. The one of the bridge is amazing! Great light contrast! And Hattie I LOVE the dress with the great buttons!
Congrats on your engagement!
Love to both of you,
Jennifer
WOW, each photo got better and better- these are amazing!! The black and whites are some of my favorite
GORGEOUS PICTURES! What a beautiful couple. I couldn’t be happier for you if you were actually my sister
these photos are beautiful. great NYC shots. but my favorite is the third from last because it’s so straightforward. I’ve known Hattie for a dozen years and don’t know Andrew — but he must be amazing and he’s one lucky fella! so happy for you both.
These pictures are amazing, congrats you guys!
They are so absolutely perfect! Each one made me smile very big. I can’t wait to see you and finally meet Andrew. Hopefully it will be before the wedding
love you Hattie! Many congrats dear friend.
These are beautiful pictures even though I am a little biased since I am Hattie’s mom! You have captured the love they have for eachother so well. Looking at these photos while Hattie is so far away in Sudan and Andrew soon in Afghanistan just makes me feel connected to them in a sweet way!
Andrew is my grandson and I get thrilled every time I look at him and his future. He has been a beautiful guy since he was a baby. We know they will be one happy couple.
I love viewing these amazing pictures! Thanks for sharing them with us. I have proudly shown them to many friends. I will miss you both as you work in far away places, but I will continue to enjoy the photos and look forward to your wedding.
